No Such Thing as a Nice Prison

When we presented at last month's International Transformative Justice and Abolition Criminology Conference in Salt Lake City, Zhana and I were struck by the surprising similarities between the new carceral and policing schemes we heard about in SLC and the situation in New York City. We decided to sit down with Decarcerate Utah organizer Brinley Froelich for a wide-ranging discussion of new trends in criminalization and incarceration in these two cities, and how they can be resisted.
