DPRS at Popsickle Literary Arts Festival Saturday 6/22!

A few months ago I agreed to read at the Rodent Popsicle Records showcase. After all, Toxic Narcotic was an important band of my youth, they have a song describing a fight in Allston which names the intersection where it occurred, and anyway I could hardly say no to Boston's longest standing DIY punk hardcore label, even if its been a while since they put out anything I can get behind. One time I saw Toxic Narcotic at Bill's Bar and Will had just cut his finger off with a table saw and had it sewn back on, and he played guitar anyway and in the middle of the set the bandage came off and it was really gnarly. Never mind my good friend John Policastro is a Rodent Popsicle Records recording artist, and I never get to see him anymore, even though he lives in the same city as me. I didn't understand why they wanted prose readers at their label showcase, but needless to say, I was a little excited.

Anyway, it turns out I was actually agreeing to read at Popsickle Literary Arts Festival, a yearly marathon lit event in Brooklyn showcasing a plethora of local reading series and presses. I have to admit, that's still pretty good! My associate A.M. Gittlitz is reading in the 1 o'clock spot, and I'll be reading in the 5 spot. Come see us, and stay for everyone else! Thanks to Niina Pollari for setting this all up, despite (or because of?) sleeping in a cardboard box as an infant.

POPSICKLE 2013 will take place on June 22nd at LaunchPad (721 Franlin Avenue). The nearest train stops are the 2/3/4/5 at Franlin Avenue, or the Shuttle at Park Place.
